Infometrics welcomes Ruby Taylor into our team. Ruby joined us in April this year and is already an integral part of the team. This month we chat with Ruby about what she’s been involved with since she joined Infometrics.
Bio - Ruby Taylor
Studied in: Philippines
Resides in: WellingtonÂ
Brad: Can you describe a typical day at work?
Ruby: No two days are exactly the same, which is one of the things I enjoy about my role at Infometrics. A typical day can include supporting client enquiries, helping with subscriptions and access, coordinating invoicing, improving internal processes, and keeping office operations running smoothly.
A big part of my role is making sure the small but important things don’t fall through the cracks, whether that’s helping a client, updating our systems, following up on invoicing details, or supporting the wider team behind the scenes.
Brad: What is the nature of your work at Infometrics and how do clients benefit from what you do?
Ruby: My role sits across operations, client support, finance administration, and internal coordination. I help make sure things run smoothly for both our team and our clients.
For clients, this means helping them access the right information, products, and support without unnecessary delays. A lot of my work happens behind the scenes, but it helps create faster responses, better follow-up, and a smoother overall experience with Infometrics.
Brad: What are you currently working on?
Ruby: At the moment, I’m working on improving and documenting internal processes, including email templates, client communication workflows, invoicing, and subscription administration.
I’m also helping tidy up how we manage information across systems like Insightly, ClickUp, Xero, and our subscription platform, so things are easier, more consistent, and less duplicated for the team.
Brad: What has been your most rewarding work experience?
Ruby: The most rewarding work for me has been helping bring order to busy or complex environments.
I’ve worked across infrastructure, construction, commercial, finance, and operations roles, often in places with a lot of moving parts. I enjoy taking something that feels messy or overwhelming and turning it into a clear process, useful template, or system that makes life easier for others.
Outside of work, I also find it rewarding helping people in the Filipino community with things like CVs, documents, and navigating unfamiliar systems. Practical support can make a big difference.
Brad: What has been your most challenging work experience?
Ruby: Some of the most challenging experiences I’ve had have been in roles where there was a lot happening at once, limited structure, and people relying on you to keep things moving.
I’ve worked in fast-paced project and operational environments where priorities can change quickly, and you have to stay calm, practical, and focused. Those experiences taught me how important it is to be organised, communicate clearly, and not panic when things get busy.
They also taught me that good systems matter. When processes are clear and information is easy to find, people can make better decisions and work more confidently. That’s something I bring into my work at Infometrics.
Brad: What is your background and how has this influenced your work at Infometrics?
Ruby: My background is quite varied, which I think is one of my strengths. I studied Hotel and Restaurant Management and Computer Science, giving me a mix of people-focused and systems-focused skills.
I’ve worked across administration, operations, finance, procurement, project management, and commercial coordination in different industries, including infrastructure, construction, consultancy, scaffolding, and transport.
That mix has shaped how I work at Infometrics. I enjoy supporting people, improving processes, solving problems, and helping create a smoother experience for both clients and the team.
Brad: What advice would you give a younger version of yourself?
Ruby: I would tell my younger self not to underestimate the value of being organised, reliable, and practical.
Success doesn’t always have to look loud or impressive. Being the person who follows through, solves problems, keeps things moving, and supports others is incredibly valuable.
I’d also tell myself to ask more questions, back myself more, and remember that mistakes don’t define you-they help you learn.
Brad: What changes or challenges do you see in the future?
Ruby: One big challenge for many organisations is keeping up with changing technology while still maintaining good human connection and practical processes.
There are so many tools available now, from AI and automation to CRMs and finance systems, but the challenge is making sure they genuinely help people rather than create more noise.
For Infometrics, the opportunity is to keep improving how we deliver information and support to clients in a way that is efficient, clear, and easy to access.
Brad: What are your other major interests?
Ruby: Outside of work, one of my biggest interests is pickleball. I’m heavily involved in the Filipino Wellington pickleball community and help organise games and social sessions.
I enjoy bringing people together, whether that’s through sport, food, or community events. I like creating spaces where people feel welcome, included, and able to have fun.
I also love plants. We have a lot of them at home - it’s a bit like a little jungle inside the house. I find plants calming, and I like having that bit of greenery around me.
Brad: What do you enjoy doing when not at work?
Ruby: When I’m not at work, I’m usually spending time with my family, playing or organising pickleball, catching up with friends, helping in the community, or planning some sort of food-related gathering.
I don’t read many books, but I listen to a lot of audiobooks and podcasts. I often work while listening to an audiobook or podcast in the background - it helps me focus, and I like learning while doing other things.
I enjoy being busy, but I also like the simple things - good food, good company, plants, family, and a bit of laughter. I’m happiest when people are relaxed, fed, and having a good time.
Brad: What is an intriguing fact about you?
Ruby An intriguing fact about me is that I can play a lot of sport and somehow barely sweat - which sounds useful, but mostly just confuses people.
I’m also left-handed and have a very strong sense of smell, which can be both a gift and a curse depending on the situation!
I also have a lot of plants at home - it’s become a little indoor jungle. I like having greenery around me, and somehow, I always find room for one more plant. I’m also an avid tennis fan. I follow a lot of the sport, even if I can’t pronounce half the players’ names!
Brad: Thank you for taking the time to chat to us, Ruby. We look forward to following your progress at Infometrics.
